How to Reply to Email in Lotus Notes

The simple task of replying to email using Lotus Notes can be challenging as you figure out the different delivery options available. You may need to reply only to the sender of the email or you may want to reply to all the recipients of the email. Choose your options carefully or you might end up sending a message to the boss with an off-color comment that you meant to be read by a co-worker.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the message you want to reply to by double clicking on it or selecting it in the view pane.

    • 2

Click the "Reply" or "Reply to All" button from the pull-down list above the message. "Reply" will only send a return message to the person who sent the message while the "Reply to All" button will send your reply to everyone who received the message as well as the sender.

    • 3

Change any information in the header of the reply, which will be in a pop-up window. You may also change the subject line and add any additional recipients in the carbon copy field (cc:) or blind carbon copy field (bcc:). A blind carbon copy sends a copy to someone, but their name is not displayed on the list of recipients that everyone else views.

    • 4

Choose "Reply with History" if you want a copy of the original message at the bottom of your reply. This is helpful if you refer to specific parts of the original message in your reply or are carbon copying someone who might not have received the original message.

    • 5

Choose whether to include any attachments from the original message by selecting "Reply with Attachments" or "Reply without Attachments" from the menu.

    • 6

Type your reply in the message body. When finished, press "Send." You've now replied to the received email.
