Whether it is in the dead of winter, or the heat of summer, some of us have a problem with dry skin. Many factors can lead to dry skin, like what you use to bathe with or wash your clothes with. There are many different things to look for when you are shopping for products that will help alleviate the problem.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Use moisturizing bath products that contain oils. These will seep into dry skin and help keep it from drying out.
Step2
Try a humidifier. If the air in your home is dry because of air conditioning or heating, a humidifier will help keep water in the air.
Step3
Bathe with mild cleansers. Stay away from soaps and body washes that have harsh chemicals or alcohol in them. These products will strip moisture from your skin.
Step4
Buy thick lotions. Creamy, water-based lotions are good for daily use. Unless you are using them on your hands, they don't tend to rub off during the day. For dry skin on your hands, try a thinner lotion with natural oils that will help your hands retain moisture throughout the day.
Step5
Start using an electric razor. It won't chafe and irritate the skin like a straight razor.

Tips & Warnings

  • Test information for yourself. When it is possible, go into a salon or department store where you can test some of the moisturizers before you buy them. There is nothing like a personal test to tell you if the moisturizer you have is the right one.
