Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Rat Rod
  • Online auction house account
  1. Step 1

Decide whether you are willing to sell the rat rod as parts, and set a price for the car or its parts. Visit the Hotrodgarage homepage to compare prices. See Resources below.

  2. Step 2

Write an advertisement listing the make, model and year of the car; condition of the interior, exterior and engine; and anything unique about the car's history that may help it sell. Take a digital photo of your car to be used in the ad.

  3. Step 3

Place an ad in as many different publications. Try placing an ad in your local paper, an online auction house such as eBay and sites specializing in rat rods such as the Oldride website.

  4. Step 4

Attend any local car rallies, auctions and derbies. Bring pictures of your car and discuss it with any potential buyers.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you place an ad online, remember to state whether you will offer a shipping option.
  • Make sure those answering your ad can easily contact you.
  • Depending on the car and its condition a rat rod can be priced anywhere from a couple hundred dollars to a couple thousand.
  • Be honest with yourself about how high you can realistically set your price.
  • Do not exaggerate in your listing; give an honest description of the car.
