Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Drape the tie around your neck so that the wide end hangs roughly 10 inches lower than the narrow end.

  2. Step 2

Cross the wide end of the tie over the narrow end. Wrap it around the back of the narrow end and over to its original side.

  3. Step 3

Wrap the wide end over the narrow end as in the previous step, but this time, do not bring it back around to the original side.

  4. Step 4

Guide the wide end of the tie up through the loop formed around your neck, from below--up toward your chin.

  5. Step 5

Feed the wide end of the tie down through the loop it created on the last crossover.

  6. Step 6

Pull the wide end down through the loop and tug gently until the knot is nice and neat.

  7. Step 7

Ease down on the narrow end of the tie with one hand, while guiding the knot up to your neck with the other. Adjust the knot so it sits comfortably under the collar.

Tips & Warnings
  • The wide end of the tie should hang down to just about your belt line. If it's far off, start over with the first step and adjust the amount each end of the necktie is hanging down accordingly.
