Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Things You’ll Need:
- Internet connection
- Squidoo lens
- Time to update regularly
Step1
Sign in to Squidoo and review "My Lenses Dashboard" to make sure everything is entered correctly.
Step2
Choose the "Max this Lens" option next to each of your lenses listed on "My Lens Dashboard". The "Maxed Out" lens can always be returned to its original state by "Un-Maxing" it. "Max this Lens" puts all of Squidoo's marketing knowledge to work building traffic and revenue for the lens (though most of this happens behind the scene).
Step3
Make the lens personal. Write relevant Biography and Introduction modules. Provide pictures when possible. Create original titles for modules instead of using the Squidoo defaults.
Step4
Provide quality, relevant content. Readers come to your lens looking for something. Make sure they find it. Have at least 4 content modules, not including Introduction and Biography.
Step5
Add commercial, revenue generating modules (like Amazon) between your content modules. If you have products on eBay or CafePress, set up your commercial modules to link to them. Always select relevant products that relate as directly as possible to your lens content.
Step6
Spread the word on social bookmarking sites like Technorati, Del.icio.us, and Digg. Link and promote the lens on your other sites and blogs. Take advantage of Squidoo's affiliate and referral programs to drive more even more traffic to your lens.
Step7
Master the tags. Keywords and phrases should be targeted and relevant. Squidoo allows no more than 40 tags, so use them wisely. Also, consider using common misspellings and typos in the tag list if appropriate.
