How to Fundraise for the Republican Party
A Republican candidacy requires a large financial investment. Most candidates rely on donors to provide the capital necessary to run a campaign. A victory for the GOP requires more than money, including conservative principles and effective campaign management, but inadequate funding can impede even the most principled and well-managed campaign. 1
Make a plan that assigns fundraising responsibilities and sets goals. This plan can be presented to potential donors to show your financial needs and how you will you use their generous donations.
-
2
Establish a finance committee to provide you with fundraising contacts. These committed donors won't be involved in day-to-day operations of the campaign. Instead each makes a pledge and agrees to fundraise an additional amount from other contributors.

3
Use your contacts with other Republicans to solicit contributions for your campaign. Personal references are always more likely to pay off. Get a fellow candidate to introduce you to some of their donors and be sure to return the favor.
-
4
Contact political action committees, or PAC's, that share interests with your campaign. Large, national donors who aren't able to research local candidates give to PAC's who coordinate the distribution of funds to like-minded candidates in even the smallest races.

5
Use your website to get new contacts. Then make the call or send the email to ask for their support. Stay in contact with your supporters, new and old, throughout the campaign. If they feel abandoned, they may waver in their support.
-
6
Follow up with previous donors. They are already invested in your campaign and may be willing to donate again. Explain how you used their initial donation and what you plan on doing with any additional funds. People like to know what they are buying, even if it is indirectly.

Tips & Warnings
Have campaign staffers and volunteers approach potential donors that they know personally. Personal connections are the most likely to pay off.
Be sure to cultivate party contacts throughout the country. Eventually they could lead to direct fundraising relationships or introductions to additional donors.
Fundraise for other Republican candidates before you decide to run. This will give you experience and contacts not to mention gratitude from fellow party members.
Be sure to review your local campaign finance laws to avoid fines or criminal charges while you fundraise.
