From Quick Guide: Solving the Nation's Issues
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Gather with your fellow conservatives. Be prepared with a comfortable setting and some refreshments.

  2. Step 2

Choose a policy topic and present your innovative solutions. What will you do today: deregulate the economy, cut taxes, end abortion or draft a new foreign policy?

  3. Step 3

Move on to a discussion of a conservative classic by Russell Kirk, Friedrich Hayek, Milton Friedman or William F. Buckley, Jr. For those who haven't done the required reading, give them a short summary to bring them up to speed.

  4. Step 4

Analyze current events from a conservative perspective. Be sure to use a source you can trust. If there is no breaking news, dissect the latest issue of a conservative magazine.

  5. Step 5

Debate the principles of conservatism. Can a truly conservative government have a welfare program? Would you support freeing the market entirely or would you keep the FDA? Would illegal drugs remain illegal?

  6. Step 6

Pose a hypothetical question such as who would you nominate to the Supreme Court. If you were president, would you abolish the Department of Education or just cut its budget in half?

  7. Step 7

Plan how to fight the good fight. Leave with an idea of what you will do next to promote the conservative cause. Suggest the next meeting time to discuss more conservative issues.

Tips & Warnings
  • Cigars, fine foods or top-shelf liquor can help to attract and entertain the right crowd.
  • Not all conservatives are Republican.
  • Don't scare liberals away from your discussion. Your sophisticated discourse may bring them back from the dark side.
