How to Raise Funds for the Green Party

The Green Party is changing the face of third-party politics. By only accepting donations from individual citizens, the Green Party makes sure it can't be manipulated by big money interests. Of course, refusing to accept corporate donations means that it takes a little more effort to raise enough money to run successful campaigns. You can donate yourself, but you can help even more by raising funds for the Green Party. Read on to learn more.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Join the Green Party and get involved with the party in your state. Find out more about the local, state and national candidates.

  2. Step 2

Volunteer with the Green Party's Coordinated Campaign Committee. This committee is responsible for assisting state parties and candidates in running effective campaigns.

  3. Step 3

Familiarize yourself with the Green Party's Ten Key Values: grassroots democracy, social justice and equal opportunity, ecological wisdom, non-violence, decentralization, community-based economics and economic justice, feminism and gender equity, respect for diversity, personal and global responsibility, and future focus and sustainability.

  4. Step 4

Talk to your family and friends about Green Party values and ask them to make a donation to support their efforts.

  5. Step 5

Make presentations to church groups, women's groups, environmental organizations, business associations and other social or professional groups. Talk about the Green candidates and the party's values. Ask for individual donations.

  6. Step 6

Use email to contact people and ask for donations. Many people respond positively to a personal email that gives them news about candidates they like and are inclined to vote for during the election.

  7. Step 7

Encourage everyone who shows interest in making a donation to write a check to the Green Party or to go online and make a donation by credit or debit card.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't spam people with emails. You could get yourself and the party in trouble by sending out bulk emails. Only send to people you know or who have indicated an interest in the Green Party.
