How to Get Military Housing Allowance Information

You will find that military "Basic Allowance for Housing" (BAH) changes from one location to the next. Because the military pay scale does not change according to an area's cost of living, a BAH allowance is given. Being able to find information on BAH is essential when trying to find off-base housing in a new area, and there are a few different ways you can obtain housing allowance information. 1. Contact the family housing office of the base where you will be stationed either by telephone or email. They can give you a current listing of the BAH in that area.

2. Visit the family housing office in person to obtain BAH information.

3. View a current list of BAH rates on your base's official website, if available.

4. Find your base's BAH rates at the Military website Benefits page by clicking on "Military Pay" then "Basic Allowance for Housing."
