Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Purchase or obtain a cutting or seeds from the existing Christmas tree species desired.

  2. Step 2

Plant the seed or sapling in a sunny area of land with a ten foot circumference for growth. Dig a hole that is wide and not too deep for saplings. Spread out roots at the bottom of the hole on a small mound of dirt.

  3. Step 3

Fertilize the Christmas tree with acidic fertilizer for faster growth. Compost can also be added for further feeding. Wait two years for a small tabletop Christmas tree. Wait five to eight years for a full-grown Christmas tree.

  4. Step 4

Allow one year of growth per one foot of height after the first five years.

Tips & Warnings
  • Have a lot of patience when growing Christmas trees.
  • Plant a new Christmas tree every year for best results.
  • Leave the Christmas tree where it grows, and decorate it there without cutting it down.
  • Take extra precaution when cutting or trimming the Christmas tree. Cutting tools can be very dangerous and should be fully understood before operating.
  • Avoid getting the Christmas tree sap in the eyes or open wounds. Sap can be an irritant if allowed to remain on the skin for long amounts of time.
