Registering for baby essentials will help you prepare for the arrival of your newborn. Read on to learn how to create a baby registry.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Decide on which items you think you will need for your baby. Baby stores will have a checklist that you can obtain on their websites or in the stores. Check off the items that you will need.
Step2
Ask a friend who has had children for advice on which products work best. You may even want to bring a "mom-friend" along with you when you register.
Step3
Research the products in which you are interested. Check consumer reports as well as parent reviews on the Internet to see the top-rated products.
Step4
Register for baby products at the store(s) of your choice. You will check in at customer service. They will have you fill out some information with your name, address and due date. Most stores will give you instructions, a brochure of products and a scanner to scan the items you want to add to your registry.
Step5
Scan the items that you want. They will automatically be added to your registry. Most stores will be able to give you a print out of your registry when you are finished. They may also ask you if you would like to be able to access your registry online.
Step6
Update your registry as you receive gifts. You may decide you need more or less of certain items. Keeping your baby registry updated will help you avoid getting duplicate gifts.

Tips & Warnings

  • Know which products you want before going to the store. This will help you not become overwhelmed with all of the choices.
  • Check safety reports on your desired products especially for car seats, play pens, high chairs, and swings.
  • Don't register for baby clothes or blankets. You will receive plenty of these items. People love buying baby clothes and blankets.
