How to Find a Wedding Singer

You know the scene: white dress, miles of bridesmaids, nervous groom--and a wedding singer who makes the guests cringe. But it doesn't have to be that way. With research, you can find a wedding singer who will make your special day a pleasant memory for everyone.

1. Pin down the type of music that you want. Of other weddings you have attended, what have you liked and disliked about the music? With your spouse-to-be, determine music that will fit your personal style, whether it is classical, rock, country, contemporary or traditional.
2. Start your search by word-of-mouth. Most people will share candidly when it comes to matters of service and will want to steer you away from a potentially bad experience.
3. Attend a bridal fair to meet possible candidates. Collect business cards while you are there. Take note of the singer's appearance when you meet him or her. Does the singer look and act like a professional? You don't want your wedding singer's appearance to detract from the bride.
