How to List a Podcast With Podcast Alley

Podcasts are digital audio files or MP3s that are downloaded to iPods or computers. These homemade shows deal with all types of subjects, from business to sports to the podcasters' personal lives. There are several major podcast directories on the Internet. Podcast Alley is one of the largest and most respected podcast directories. Follow these steps to learn how to list your podcast with Podcast Alley.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Join Podcast Alley by going to the website. Click on "Add A Podcast" and when you receive a prompt that asks if you want to register, click on it and fill in your email address, birth date, a screen name and password. You will get a verification email immediately. Click on that and you're officially registered.

  2. Step 2

    Click on the "Add a Podcast" link again while you are still logged in. Step by step instructions will appear to guide you through the process.

  3. Step 3

    Add the URL for your RSS feed. Remember, this address should end in xml. It is specific to your podcast feed, not just to the blog or website that features it.

  4. Step 4

    Check for error messages. Podcast Alley will let you know if there are any problems with the address that you have submitted. If there are no errors, go on to the next step "Commit Podcast."

  5. Step 5

    Add descriptive information about your podcast's hosts and mission. Be brief but specific and use a writing style that captures the podcast's spirit. Remember to use keywords so people searching for the a certain topic will find your show when searching for an active podcast on the subject.

  • Keep any correspondence you receive from Podcast Alley in a separate folder on your desktop for easy access.
  • Add new episodes of your podcasts to your page as soon as you finish recording them.
