Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dance Costume
  • Dance Shoes
  • Camera
  • Small Gift
  • Flowers
  1. Step 1

Mark your calendar early with the recital date and the rehearsal times. Rehearsals will often conflict with other events such as soccer games or other family member's obligations. Make arrangements to get your child to the required rehearsal and recitals on time.

  2. Step 2

Dress your child in their costume, full makeup and have their hair done for the rehearsal. Make sure they wear their street shoes into the auditorium. They can change into their ballet or tap shoes once in the building.

  3. Step 3

Take photos of your child at the rehearsal rather than at the recital. You will be able to walk right up to the stage and get a better shot than you would at the recital. Take plenty of shots in order to assure good photographs. Take several close-up shots with friends or the teacher.

  4. Step 4

Provide a small gift and thank you gift for the teacher. Bring the gift to the last dance class or to the dance rehearsal rather than the recital, when it is much busier and hectic.

  5. Step 5

Get your seats early the night of the recital. Arrive with your child already dressed. Pick out your seat, marking them with a few coats, jackets, purses or backpacks. Point out to your child where you will be sitting so she is secure in the knowledge that you are watching.

  6. Step 6

Watch your child perform the dance numbers. Video tape the performance or check to see if DVDs will be sold after the performance. Applaud loudly and acknowledge your child's hard work.

  7. Step 7

Bring flowers for your child. Rave about the performance and shower your child with praise.

  8. Step 8

Have your child autograph your program. Keep it in the scrapbook along with the dance pictures.

Tips & Warnings
