Spam is a growing problem for all email users. Most email programs are incorporating a junk mail or spam filter utility into their software and Eudora is no different. This article is based on the Windows version of Eudora. Read on to learn how to block spam on Eudora email.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Install Eudora 6.0 or above. After installation you will be prompted create a junk mail box. If you say "yes" Eudora will create the junk mail box and turn on Spam Watch. If you already have Eudora 6.0 or above installed, simply go to "Tools:Options:Junk Mail" and put a check beside "Automatically Place Junk in the Junk Mailbox" to turn on Spam Watch.
Step2
Train Spam Watch to block spam. As you receive junk mail, highlight the spam message and select "Junk" from the message drop down box. This moves the spam to the junk mail folder and helps Spam Watch identify types of spam.
Step3
Customize the toolbar for easier access. You can easily add "Junk" and "Not Junk" buttons to the message toolbar to save time and steps. To do this, right-click anywhere on the toolbar and select "Customize" from the drop-down menu. On the general tab, select "Message" from the categories box on the left. There are two icons with fish bones. The icon with the envelope and fish bone is the "Junk Mail" icon. The icon with the diamond and fish bone is the "Not Junk Mail" icon. Simply right-click each icon and drag it to the toolbar for on the fly spam control.
Step4
Check your junk mailbox often to make sure you aren't missing important messages. Eudora will empty the junk mailbox every 30 days.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you find that Eudora is sending too many messages to the junk mailbox, you can adjust the "Junk Threshold" at "Tools:Options:Junk Mail." The threshold default is 50. Adjust this option to change how much mail is getting junked.
