How to Use Comcast Video Mail

With Comcast Video Mail and your computer webcam, you can record, preview and send video to family and friends. Follow these simple steps to send a holiday greeting or a happy birthday with Comcast Video Mail.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Open Comcast Video Mail by clicking on the icon on your desktop. A new screen will appear asking you to sign in with your account user name and password. Click the "Sign in" button to continue.

  2. Step 2

    Click "Next" on the "Welcome to Video Mail" screen that appears once you have signed in successfully. This will take you to the "Record and Preview" screen.

  3. Step 3

    Choose the kind of greeting you would like to record and send by clicking on one of the three buttons at the top right of the "Record and Preview" screen. Click "Basic" to record a basic video. Click "Greeting Card" to record a video greeting card for a special occasion. Click "Photo Narrator" to record narration for a collection of digital photos.

  4. Step 4

    Hit the "Record" button once you have selected the type of video. You will see a scroll bar at the the right side of the screen that indicates recording time. A display window appears on the left side of the screen, so you can view yourself on camera.

  5. Step 5

    Record your Video Mail message. After the countdown, you can smile, say hello to your recipients and let them know how you are doing. Your video message can be up to three minutes in length.

  6. Step 6

    Finish your recording by hitting the "Stop" button. Click the "Preview" button to watch and listen to your message before sending it. If you don't like what you see and hear, you can repeat the steps to re-record your message. If you're happy with what you've recorded, click "Next" to continue.

  7. Step 7

    Go to the "Address and Send" screen. Fill in the "To:" field with the recipient's email address. Separate multiple email addresses with a comma or a semicolon. Fill in the "Subject" and "Message" fields. Then click "Send" to deliver your Comcast Video Mail.

Tips & Warnings
  • Press the "Back" button to resend the Video Mail message to additional people. This will take you back to the "Address and Send" screen. Videos remain in a queue until you overwrite the recording or until you close the program.
  • Firewalls may block new programs after they have been installed onto your computer. Reconfigure your computer's firewall settings if necessary before sending or receiving Comcast Video Mail.
  • Make sure your recorded Comcast Video Mail has been sent before closing the program. Any recording that has not been emailed will be automatically deleted upon exiting Comcast Video Mail.
