1
Bring out the squirt guns and have a water war. Make sure everyone has a squirter that they can operate. A spray bottle can work just as well as a squirt gun. Make teams or go commando, and set boundaries so you don't disturb the neighbors or soak the cherry wood coffee table. When you want it to end, bring out the popsicles and offer a trade: one popsicle for a squirter.

2
Make ice blocks for the back yard or wading pool. Fill different sized plastic containers and ice cube trays with colored water and freeze them overnight. Ice shapes can be removed by dipping the container in warm water; they should just slide out. Preschoolers and toddlers love these.

Go to a water park. Nearly every city has one these days. Bring towels, lots of sunscreen and a change of clothes. If you want to avoid crowds, weekday mornings before 11 are probably the best time. Always bring a snack and something to drink, you will save money and you can stay longer.

4
Have a story time in the wading pool or bath tub. If you can cool the little ones down before naptime, they will have an easier time falling asleep.

5
Camp out in the basement. If your basement is below ground level it will definitely be cooler than the upstairs. Set up sleeping bags and foamies for sleeping, or have a picnic lunch or dinner downstairs. You could even light candles and sing campfire songs!

6
Go to the mall for a walk. It's air conditioned, so take advantage of it! This can be a big help with infants if you can't find reprieve elsewhere. It can be costly though!

7
Keep juice boxes in the freezer and use them for outings. They will be melted just right by the time you are ready for them and they can keep your other food cool.
