Step 1
Keep your cool no matter how competitive your round becomes. Players should not disrespect each other, the course or their equipment. No throwing clubs into the lake!
-
Step 2
Ensure the safety of others by not swinging your club when they are nearby. Also, if there are other players in your line of play, make sure they know your ball may be coming in their direction.
-
Step 3
Keep quiet during other players' turns. Remember that other players are all around you on the course so shouting should be kept to a minimum.
-
Step 4
Stand to the side of the green when others are putting. Don't stand directly behind the ball or behind the hole in another player's line of putt. Make sure you are not casting a shadow on another player's ball or on his or her line of putt.
-
Step 5
Play quick and steady. According to proper golf course etiquette, if another group is playing faster than your group, let them play through. Be ready when it's your turn to play. You should have your club chosen and choose your shot fairly quickly.
-
Step 6
Repair any damage to the course before you leave the hole. Rake over footprints and holes in the bunkers.
