How to Create Drop Down Menus in Fireworks

When you are creating a web page, Fireworks is definitely the way to go. You can make it look as professional or as personal as you desire. It's easy to learn how to create drop down menus using Fireworks.

        Create the button that you want people to click on and see a drop down menu. For example you can create the button "Pictures" for people to click on and then there will be a drop down menu when you are done.

        Click "Edit/Insert/Slice." A neon green slice will appear. Right click on it and select "Add Pop-Up Menu" from the drop down menu.

        Double click in the area where you enter text and type the name of the items you want to use. For example under a "Pictures" tab you may want to type "Family Pictures." Click on the "+" icon to add additional items and click on "Next" when you are done.

        Select the "Appearance" tab and choose the color and size of the font and the color of the cells. Choose whether you want your drop down menu to go horizontal or vertical. Click on "Next" and you will be taken to the "Advanced" tab where you can choose the cell padding, shadow, and border color.

        Hit the "Next" button to go to the "Position" tab where you can decide how you would like your drop down menu to look. Click on "Done."

        Choose "Preview" in your browser's "File" menu. You can see your drop down menu by rolling the cursor over the button you created.

        Go to "File/Export" and choose where you would like to save your drop down menu. Open the folder where you saved your file and find the file called "mm_menu.js" which contains the code for the drop down menus. In the head content of the web page the menu items will be coded.
