How to Have a Baby Boy

The only way to guarantee the gender of your child is to adopt. There are also many methods that are believed to be effective if you are attempting to conceive a baby of a specific gender. The methods range from charting your cycle and using a Chinese birth chart to determine which month to conceive in, to timing your conception around your ovulation and even to having a scientist use PGD (Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis) which offers a 99.9 percent success rate in producing the desired sex.

• Ovulation Thermometer
• Notebook or other recording device for temperatures

Instructions

Chinese Birth Chart

1. Determine your lunar age (approximately 2 years more than your conventional age.)

2. After examining the Chinese Birth Chart, determine which month is predicted to result in the desired gender.

3. Attempt to conceive a baby during this time.

Shettles Method/ Timing Method

1. Chart your ovulation cycles so you can determine precisely when ovulation occurs. There are two types of sperm produced, the X (female) and Y (male); Dr. Shettles' studies showed that the Y sperm are smaller and weaker, but faster, where the X sperm are bigger and stronger, but slower. Based on these observations, Dr. Shettles believes that you can do several things to influence the conception of a specific gender.

2. Try to conceive your baby within two days of ovulation to conceive a boy.

3. Attempt to conceive a girl by trying three days or more before ovulation.

PGD with IUI or IVF

1. Talk with your OB to understand what is required to undergo the treatment. If your OB does not provide these services, you will likely be provided with information about a clinic that does. Usually you need to already have multiple children of the same gender to qualify for this special treatment. This type of fertility treatment may be much more precise in achieving the gender selection desired but it also comes with a cost, where the Chinese Birth Chart and Shettles/Timing Method are free to try but not guaranteed.

2. Join online communities and forums to meet others who have decided to take the same route and who may recommend a doctor or treatment facility who can meet your needs.

3. Undergo treatment with IUI (intrauterine insemination) or IVF (in-vitro fertilization).

Tips & Warnings

• Because there are many factors that contribute to the Shettles method, including PH and more, it is recommended that you study in further detail what is needed if you are serious about trying this method.
