Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Determine exactly what you're looking for. While the ski bike community is relatively small, it is still very centralized so it will be easiest to find all your equipment in one place. By determining exactly what equipment you need, and might need, you will allow distributors and other enthusiasts to recommend outlets for the gear you need.
Step2
Check out top commercial suppliers. One great resource is Crighton, a company that runs a full line of ski bikes and snow BMX equipment.
Step3
Turn to the snow BMX community for general equipment. Like any niche hobby or sporting community, the snow BMX community hosts a lot of information and equipment exchange. Crighton's snow BMX forum is a great place to register and drop a note to other enthusiasts.
Step4
Shop for gear from similar sports. While some snow BMX equipment, like the snow bike, is very specialized, other gear is identical to what's used in snowboarding and skiing. So take advantage of the huge number of snowboarding and skiing outlets to find ancillary gear and racing equipment.
Step5
Contact ski bike manufacturers directly. The one huge advantage of a small sporting community is that people at all levels of the sport, from the average enthusiast to the top CEO, are still passionate about it. So feel free to write an email or pick up the phone to one of the manufacturers such as Crighton, Hanson, Brenter or Stalmach to ask about equipment or even make suggestions about existing ski bike gear.
