Snow BMX can be a fast and extreme sport. Ski bikes, which are designed to gather maximum speed, have been clocked doing well over 100 mph, making the ride a potentially dangerous thrill. But with the right approach and proper technique, you can survive any snow bike run in one piece.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Check your equipment to help prevent accidents. Makes sure your snow bike's nuts and bolts are secure. The bike saddle should be low enough for your feet to touch the ground. If you use foot skis, keep them snugly strapped.

  2. Step 2

Wear the proper safety gear, including a helmet, goggles and elbow pads. Snowboarding protective gear is well suited for snow BMX racing.

  3. Step 3

Learn to mount and dismount ski lifts before you attempt them in a race. On any new course, take a dry run. Practicing getting on and off a ski lift with your snow bike will help you master the process in a safe environment, so you can survive one of the trickier parts of snow BMX racing.

  4. Step 4

Control your speed at all times. The best way to survive a snow BMX racing run is to make sure you can slow down at will. This doesn't mean you can't make a furious charge at the finish line once your skill level is high enough. Just don't push your snow bike beyond what you can control.

  5. Step 5

Fall carefully. If you feel yourself falling, adjust your body weight to fall on your side instead of landing on your back or going head-first over the handle bars. A side fall will increase your chances of surviving snow BMX racing without getting injured.

Tips & Warnings
  • Snow BMX racing, like any extreme sport, is not for amateurs. Get yourself in the best physical shape, learn the fundamentals and know how to stay safe before you hit the slopes with your snow bike.
