Skysurfing is such a rush, you just have to talk about it afterwards! And finding attentive ears is as easy as joining a club of like-minded fans. Another benefit is that clubs provide a ready-made pool of pals for future jumps. Follow these tips for finding a skysurfing club near you.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Use the Web to connect. Start with the Skydiving Meetup Groups site, which lets you search for skydiving groups, establish a group, get emails when new groups are formed and take part in a general message board. Other sources include Drop Zone and Freefall University, which both host forums or chat rooms for skydiving fans.

  2. Step 2

Check into clubs associated with skydiving schools. To find skysurfers, find out where that sport is being taught. The U.S. Parachute Association maintains an online directory of jump schools, as do Drop Zone and Freefall University. The airports that host skydiving classes may also know about clubs. And the local phone book is always a good source for skyschool locations.

  3. Step 3

Get friendly with the folks who are learning skysurfing in your area. Meet and greet with fliers who show up for events. They might belong to clubs already and welcome you in, or they could know of groups for you to investigate. Also consider forming your own club from the people you have met.

  4. Step 4

Ask around at sports outfitters. Often the sales staff will be skydivers and could be members of clubs. You should also look for contact information and announcements that organizations and groups have posted in parachuting equipment stores.

  5. Step 5

Look within the larger clubs for sub-groups of skysurfers. The USPA lists its member organizations online. Air Sports Net also provides links to skydiving organizations worldwide.
