Step 1
Find some extreme snowmobiling competitions. Good places to look are on the internet at Dmoz, which lists snowmobiling competitions, extreme snowmobiling competitions among them. Other places to look are the sites of the various snowmobile makers, like Polaris or Arctic Cat.
-
Step 2
Look for extreme snowmobiling competitions that are local. Check for listings in the papers, or you could ask around for information at your local sports equipment stores. Consider going to the Winter X Games, held on different mountains every year.
-
Step 3
Research the competitions. Find out what time they're held, whether or not you'll have to pack lunch, anything you can think of to make sure you have a great time. Dress warmly and bring a camera. It's hard to enjoy yourself when you're freezing cold. Taking a camera could help you take some pictures to study when you get home.
-
Step 4
Get to the extreme snowmobiling competition early and check out the course for the best place to sit. You may not have much of a choice in this matter, due to the competition rules, but it doesn't hurt to look. If you can, sit by a jump where you can see most of the take-off and landing, or alternate between the two.
-
Step 5
Pay attention. If you are able to see the take-offs, examine what the rider is doing. You won't have the benefits of freezing him in mid-air like you could with a remote or mouse, but you'll find you'll be able to get the knack of analyzing each move as time goes on. If the rider makes a mistake, see how he handles it. If a rider crashes, try to figure out why.
-
Step 6
Go to as many extreme snowmobiling competitions as you can. The more you are able to see, the better, for that allows you to see a great variety of riders and riders of different abilities. It can also help you to shape the extreme snowmobiler that you'll become.
