Decorating for a college reunion is easy and fun with a few creative ideas and inexpensive items, such as old photographs and college memorabilia to make centerpieces and other such decorations that highlight your school colors. Simple bookmarks make great guest favors.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Tablecloths
  • Floral centerpieces
  • Confetti
  • Collage
  • Bookmarks

    Collect Photographs and College Memrobilia

  1. Step 1

Along with the college reunion invitations, send along a request for copies of old photographs from college. By requesting copies of photos, you avoid the hassle of having to return the originals.

  2. Step 2

Along with photographs, request copies of college memorabilia such as sporting event flyers, theater programs, newspaper clippings or deans' lists.

  3. Step 3

Select photos and memorabilia to use as photo centerpieces and as part of a larger collage.

  4. Make Guest Favors

  5. Step 1

Order bookmarks from either a local printing company or an online company.

  6. Step 2

The bookmarks should be inscribed with the date of your reunion, the location and your college motto. They should also coordinate with your college colors.

  7. Step 3

Tie each bookmark with a contrasting ribbon.

  8. Purchase Party Decorations

  9. Step 1

Locate a party supply store in the same location as your college reunion.

  10. Step 2

Order balloons, streamers and a banner, all in your school colors.

  11. Step 3

Arrange for the balloons, streamers and banner to be delivered the morning of the reunion. Some companies will hang streamers and banners for you, for an additional cost.

  12. Step 4

Ask the party supply store if it carries rental linens. If it does, arrange for tablecloths and linen napkins to be set up along with the balloons and streamers. The tablecloths and napkins should cooridinate with your college colors.

  13. Create the Photo Centerpieces

  14. Step 1

Purchase inexpensive wood frames in a variety of sizes. You should have 3 to 4 frames per table at the reunion location.

  15. Step 2

Remove the backing and glass from the frames and spray each frame with spray paint in one of your college colors. Avoid spraying 2 colors, as it will look too busy on the table.

  16. Step 3

Place copies of your college photographs and memorabilia in the reassembled frames.

  17. Step 4

If you have any left over photos or memorabilia, create a large collage on a piece of sturdy posterboard.

  18. Order Flower Arrangments

  19. Step 1

Contact a local florist in the same area as your college reunion and order 1 centerpiece per table. You may want to order 1 or 2 more floral arrangments for the registration table or speakers podium. The centerpieces should be taller than wide (but not so tall people will have a hard time looking over them) and should include your school colors.

  20. Step 2

Arrange to have the flowers delivered to the college reunion site the morning of the reunion.

  21. Step 3

Place a number beneath each centerpiece (depending on the number of door prizes you plan to have) for door prizes at the end of the night.

  22. Put it All Together

  23. Step 1

Once the tables have been set with the colored tablecloths and floral arrangments, place 3 or 4 photographs around each centerpiece.

  24. Step 2

Sprinkle confetti around the photographs for a bit of sparkle.

  25. Step 3

Hang the large collage on the wall, or place it on an easel near the entrance.

  26. Step 4

Put one bookmark at each place setting.

Tips & Warnings
  • Instead of paper copies of photos and memorabilia, ask for scanned images. You can then create a photo slideshow or powerpoint presentation to show during the college reunion.
