If your college reunion is coming up, you are probably looking to plan some fun events for your class. With some creativity and planning, you can find great ideas that will please just about everyone. Whether planning a high tea or a pub crawl, there is an event that your class will enjoy and will help fellow alums connect with each other.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Website
  • Flyer
  • Email addresses of alumnae
  • Contacts at alumnae office
  1. Step 1

Get the word out to fellow alumnae that your reunion is coming up and that you are forming a committee to plan special events. Invite everyone to participate, ideally at least 6 months ahead of time.

  2. Step 2

Create a website for your class reunion to help everyone connect. Let everyone know about the website and start an online group where everyone can talk about the reunion plans.

  3. Step 3

Ask everyone what types of events they would like to see at their reunion. Obtain as much feedback as possible.

  4. Step 4

Check with the alumnae office for ideas on what other classes are doing for events that have been popular and fun. The alumnae office often knows the "real scoop" and can even connect you with the members of the class who are putting on the event.

  5. Step 5

Assign groups to create events once you have heard from everyone about which events are most popular. Delegate tasks and make things easy for the group.

  6. Step 6

Publicize your events to your alumnae. If you need to obtain fees ahead of time, be sure there is plenty of lead time.

  7. Step 7

Put certain alumnae in charge of events for the day and time that they are held. Make sure that they have everything that they need.

Tips & Warnings
  • A popular event to plan is a "pub crawl" through local bars that you used to go to in college. But remember that some of these places may have changed since you went to school.
  • A great idea is to plan a family event such as a barbecue. Be sure there are activities for the children, such as face painting and balloons.
  • Lectures by popular teachers can be popular, especially if they have written books. Ask the alumnae office if any professors have recently published a book and would like to speak.
  • A wine tasting or other food-based event can be lots of fun. Check with other alums to get ideas and consider using local restaurants or foods that are popular for your area (such as California wines if you went to school in California).
