The first question after "Let's plan a college reunion" is "Where should we hold it?" Sometimes it is not practical to hold the reunion at the college. If you would like to have a reunion for West Coast graduates of an East Coast college, then naturally it would be more logical to find a location on the West Coast that suits everyone's needs. There are many choices to hold a great class reunion that everyone will remember and enjoy.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A contact list of your graduating class
  • Old yearbook
  • Information about possible locations
  • Committee of fellow alums
  1. Step 1

Decide on a date or weekend to hold your college reunion. Once you have set this date, you can start to search for locations.

  2. Step 2

Create a committee of alumnae to help work on the college reunion. Any task is easier if you delegate it and break it into smaller tasks for more people.

  3. Step 3

Brainstorm about the best locations for your college reunion with the committee. Take all the information down, and include every possible idea they mention.

  4. Step 4

Go through each idea and consider the positives and the negatives. Some ideas may need further research, such as pricing information or if they have your date available.

  5. Step 5

Compile information on your "possibilities" list and see which places look like they have the most potential. Ask not only the committee but also your graduating class which place they would like to have the college reunion.

  6. Step 6

Reserve the best location once a decision has been made. Send out "Save the Date" postcards via mail or e-mail to fellow alums with the location information.

  7. Step 7

Start making the rest of the plans for the reunion. Put people on the committee in charge of different aspects of the reunion planning.

Tips & Warnings
  • An elegant location isn't always the best location. Many people will also need to pay for airfare and hotel and will take this into consideration with their budgeting.
  • Sending alums information about local hotels when sending them information about the location selected is a real "slam dunk" move. It encourages them to take action.
  • If selecting a location at a distance, try to have someone that is close by take a look at the place. Some hotel websites have extensive photos of the rooms and conference rooms.
