How to Pick Music for a Hen Party

A hen party is not complete without music. How does the person planning the music choose something that's good for everyone? Whether the party is a send off for a friend who is getting married or just a party for the fun of it with a 'No boys allowed" clause, choosing the right music can make or break a party. Here are some ideas to make the night a smash hit!

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Pick a variety of music that will suit multiple tastes. Party music tends to be more popular when you choose classic songs that people know in a variety. You can't always please every taste but choosing today's top forty as well as retro party and dance music can help you please the majority of people who will be in attendance.
Step2
Make mixed music CDs or tapes. By making several music collections, you can have a good mix of music and if you don't have a disc jockey, you will not have to get up frequently to change music. If you have access to a CD player that holds multiple compact discs, you can set something up at the beginning of the night that will last the entire hen party.
Step3
Ask everyone attending to bring a compact disc of their favorite music or music that honors the guest of honor (if there is one in the case of a stagette party) or that holds their favorite songs. This is a great way to get a good mixture of music that can please everyone who attends.
Step4
Rent or use a karaoke machine and let everyone make music together! This can be a great laugh and a karaoke machine can double as the machine used to play regular music. Singing your favorite songs is a great way to have a laugh and make a hen night a great success that will be remembered.

Tips & Warnings

  • Look online for a list of the top songs for hen nights. There are many resources available that list songs and can point you to a place where you might be able to download the music for free.
  • Consider hiring a DJ (disc jockey) or KJ (karaoke jockey) if you want to have the music be looked after for the evening. Many djs or kjs specialize in hen parties and will play games and get everyone involved in the fun.
