Once you have a baby, you might want to meet other mothers with babies the same age so that both you and your child socialize. A great way to accomplish this is to join a baby gym.
Check the phone book. Baby gyms are usually found under activity centers in the yellow pages. If you have no luck with the phone book, perform a local search online.
Step2
Call or visit the baby gym's website. Inquire about what type of programs that they have and the prices for each. Baby gyms will usually offer exercise classes that you and your baby can attend together and developmental classes for different baby age groups.
Step3
Stop by to visit the gym. Check out the facilities and speak to the instructors. See if the place is clean and fun.
Step4
Take a trial class. Many baby gyms, including Gymboree, offer a chance to take a class free of charge. This gives you the chance to see if the baby responds well to the environment and if you enjoy it.
Step5
Fill out the applicable paperwork and make payment. Some facilities will charge a membership fee as well as cost of tuition. Classes typically run for twelve week periods.
Tips & Warnings
Babies should usually be at least 3 or 4 months old to join a baby gym. Any earlier, they will probably not get a lot out of the class.
Make sure that the gym sanitizes all toys and equipment on a regular basis. Babies have a tendency to drool and spit up often.
