How to Read Runes

Runes are stones that contain inscriptions of the ancient Germanic alphabet. They work in a similar way to tarot cards and can help a person gain insight into her life. You can find a set of runes at many occult stores. Follow these steps to read them.

1. Find a quiet place to read the runes. You will not want to be disturbed while you are trying to focus your energies on the reading. Place a clean white cloth on the floor to place the runes upon.

2. Focus your mind on a question that you wish to have answered. Place your energy into the runes as you mix them within a pouch.

3. Begin to select the runes that you will be using in your cast. There are several different casts that you can choose from, including a nine rune cast. This cast has you place nine runes scattered in front of you.

4. Keep a key of the runes close by. Most rune sets will provide a key that lets you know what each symbol means. Refer to this key as you read the runes.

5. Look at the runes that fall in the center of the cloth first. These are usually central to the question at hand. If certain runes are touching, then they complement each other. Runes that fall face down represent the future or external influences.

6. Interpret the runes with your own logical sense. If you see a pattern within the runes, then gather your answer through that. Apply all meanings from the runes to your current situation.
