How to Make a Walnut Cradle Christmas Ornament

Making a walnut cradle ornament for your Christmas tree is a fun project for young children and they will love hanging it on the tree each year. Follow these steps.

  • 1/2 of a walnut shell
  • White glue
  • Scrap of material
  • Wooden bead
  • Black marker
  • Approximately 4 inches of thin gold or silver cord

      Cut a 2 inch square from a colorful and festive piece of material. This will be used as the blanket covering the baby Jesus.

      Take a small, wooden bead (approximately 1/2 inch in diameter) and make two black, round eyes with a permanent marker. If you prefer, you can make two little curves so it looks like the eyes are closed.

      Coat the inside of half of a walnut shell, which will be the cradle with white glue.

      Secure the bead head at one end of the inside of the shell and bunch the material up to fill the rest of the shell. Make sure you have applied enough glue to hold these in place.

      Make a loop with a length of thin gold or silver cord. Glue the ends behind the head and use for hanging the Christmas ornament on the tree.
