Clean the site of the insect bite or sting carefully. Squeeze the skin around the area with your finger tips (not fingernails) to remove the stinger, if there is one. If you cannot remove the stinger with your hands, use tweezers. Wash the area thoroughly with cool water, but avoid scrubbing the area. With a soft cloth, dry the area completely. Once it is dry, double check to make sure that the area is completely clean. Cleanliness is the best way to ward off the bacteria that can lead to infection.

Apply fresh lemon juice to the insect bite. Use as much lemon juice as needed to soak the area completely. Though it may sting a little bit, the lemon juice will help the healing process begin and help fight off infection.

Dry the affected area again after using the lemon juice. You can use the same cloth that you used to dry with the first time.

Bandage the area, so your skin can begin the repairing process. Make sure that the bandage is big enough to cover the entire affected area.

Apply cinnamon oil if it begins to itch. The cinnamon oil will reduce the itching and will further promote the healing process.

Change the bandage once a day, dabbing the bite with more lemon juice each time. If you notice any increased swelling or redness, see a doctor as soon as possible.
