How to Paint Fingernails
You can paint fingernails in about 10 minutes, including correction and drying time. This means you can get beautiful nails whenever you want, without having to visit a salon. Just follow these steps.

Wash your hands thoroughly, concentrating on your nails and underneath them. Your nails should be clean and dry before applying nail polish.

Decide what color nail polish you want to use. Read the directions on the bottle before applying onto your nails. You may only need one coat, or it may suggest using two coats. If the polish is quick drying you will know to not waste time when applying it to each nail.

Trim and file nails before painting them.

Shake the bottle of nail polish to mix the color and ingredients. Some nail polishes will not go on evenly if you don't mix the contents of the bottle.

Lift the brush out of the bottle, and wipe a little of the polish on the bottle as you pull it out. There should be polish on the brush but it should not be dripping.

Start applying the polish down the middle of your fingernail. Start at the cuticle and move the brush towards the tip of your nail.

Repeat step 6 except now you will be on the right side and then the left side of the nail. Painting your fingernail should only take three strokes--once down the middle and once on each side of that.

Allow the first coat to dry, and then apply a second coat of polish. You may even allow that to dry and then add a layer of clear polish. This will protect the color on your nails and will make the polish last longer.

Dip a cotton swab into some fingernail polish remover and wipe around the edges of your nails if there is any polish on your finger.
