Step 1
Check your camera to make sure it is fully charged, has an extra battery and a new tape or DVD. You may want to have an extra tape or DVD on hand if the event runs longer than you expected.
-
Step 2
Visit the pit area before the drag race begins. You can film all of the cars and get a close up of them while they are sitting still. You may even get a shot of the drivers preparing for the race.
-
Step 3
Locate a seat in the stands where you are high enough to see the cars and the entire track, but not so high that you have to zoom in for the whole race.
-
Step 4
Get a racing program of the day's events so you will know what cars and drivers are coming up. You don't want to miss your favorites because you were unaware that their turn was approaching.
-
Step 5
Start filming the race when the car is second in line to race. This is when they will pull up to do a burn out and then start the staging process. You can get a good shot of the car before it takes off.
-
Step 6
Hold the camera steady while the car is staging and after it takes off. Follow the car with the camera down the track to the finish line. You may have to zoom out a little to record the time from the scoreboard.
