Things You'll Need:
- Hydrogen peroxide
- Liquid hand dishwashing soap
- Clean, dry white or off-white towel
- Cool water (optional)
- Oxygen bleach (optional)
- Club soda (optional)
- White vinegar (optional)
- Shaving foam (optional)
-
Step 1
Rush! Treat the stain immediately. Try an all-purpose, all-surface method that is recommended by experts at the University of California at Davis. But test on an inconspicuous area first because the recipe contains hydrogen peroxide, which is a bleaching agent.
-
Step 2
Mix one part hydrogen peroxide and one part liquid hand dishwashing soap. You must use both ingredients.
-
Step 3
Apply to the stain. Use a sprayer or clean cloth, or pour over the stain.
-
Step 4
Blot or wipe with a clean, dry white or off-white towel.
-
Step 5
Mix one tablespoon of dishwashing detergent with two cups cool water if you don't have any hydrogen peroxide. Apply to the stain and blot.
-
Step 6
Use an alternative method if the stain is still pink. Blot with oxygen bleach, which won't harm colors. The old club soda trick works well on fabrics, and diluted white vinegar can help fade the last blush. Or squirt with shaving foam. Rub gently, and then blot.
