Step1
Explore what your writing strengths and interests are. Before you plunge into the web, have an idea of what you have to offer. Although most freelance jobs will have predetermined assignments, knowing your interests and skills will help you sift through the plethora of jobs.
Step2
Decide how much money you want to make. If it's big bucks you are after then freelance writing may not be your best choice. Rates are usually determined by the market for your material and/or your writing experience.
Step3
Get some experience. Many freelance jobs require some type of writing experience. Try contacting local publications or offer your services free of charge. Gradually you will build a portfolio where you can present yourself confidently to any prospective employer.
Step4
Search freelance listing sites targeting the writer's market. These sites offer job postings and ratings that are convenient for the freelancer. In addition private message boards give buyers and freelancers the opportunity to discuss terms of payment and other details regarding their proposed project.
Step5
Look into web 1.0 job sites. This old standard still holds true for many hopeful freelancers. Such sites provide detailed search engines which hone your quest for that perfect freelance job.
