Drawing Sonic the Hedgehog is simple and can be done with a few basic lines. Follow the steps below for creating an easy Sonic. Like any subject, break down Sonic into basic shapes. Remember to use pencil and sketch lightly before making the final lines more permanent.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Begin with a circle for the head. Don't worry about making the circle perfect. Simply get the fundamental shape as a basis for the rest of the drawing.

  2. Step 2

Add a smaller oval for the torso. Draw the oval below and slightly overlapping the head. The oval should be taller than it is wide. If Sonic is standing still, the oval may be straight up and down. If Sonic is running, then the oval should be slightly tilted, to indicate movement.

  3. Step 3

Indicate with simple lines how the legs and arms are positioned. Sonic is usually depicted running, so sketch bent arms and legs. When a figure is running, the arms and legs are bent at least 90 degrees.

  4. Step 4

Next draw the quills, which will look like three v-shapes or shark fins from the top of his head to the top of his back. They are not perfectly straight lines, but should curve at the point a bit to depict a running figure.

  5. Step 5

Add pointy ears, large eyes and a small black nose on the front of his face.

  6. Step 6

Draw in the hands and feet. The feet will be very basic oval shapes, while the hands are usually fists. Indicate the fists with basic square shapes. Draw fingers in the hands.

  7. Step 7

Round out the legs and arms, and add final details. Details that need to be included are eyebrows, a small line mouth, stripes on the shoes and an inner ear.
