How to Submit an Assignment in Blackboard

Depending on your instructor you may be asked to submit your online course assignments in a variety of ways. Some may request email attachments, others may direct you to Blackboard's "submit assignment" link or the digital dropbox. In any case, Blackboard makes submitting your assignments an easy process.

Things You'll Need:

  • Blackboard account
  • Computer
  • Internet access
  1. Step 1

    Use the Blackboard course menu to navigate to the appropriate assignment submission tool. If you are submitting an assignment for an online course by email attachment then you will need to access the "Email" link on the "Communications" page. To use the "submit assignment" link you will need to view the appropriate assignment on the "Assignments" page. The digital dropbox can be found on the "Tools" page.

  2. Step 2

    Open the appropriate assignment submission tool. If you are using email, click the "Attach file" button. If you are using the digital dropbox, click the "submit file" button.

  3. Step 3

    Click the "Browse" button to locate your assignment that has been saved to your computer. Double-click the file name to start the upload process.

  4. Step 4

    Select the "upload" button. This will check the file for viruses. Once the file is accepted, click the "Done" button to upload the file.

  5. Step 5

    Continue composing and send the email if you are submitting your assignment as an email attachment. If you used the digital dropbox or "submit assignment" link you should have received a submission confirmation page.

Tips & Warnings
  • Call your institution's online support if you are experiencing difficulties with your Blackboard account.
  • Do not procrastinate. In some cases losing your Internet connection may cause you to miss a deadline!
