A days horseracing at Tweseldown racecourse encompasses amateur hunt racing and horse shows, and is renowned as the first racecourse to take betting on a Sunday. Originally opened in 1854 by the British army for training purposes, Tweseldown has since become a venue for the steeplechase season, covering events for genuine horse lovers.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Look at the events on their website (the link is below) and decide which one is the best for you.

  2. Step 2

Enjoy a Point to Point event. Originally known as the steeplechase, this is an amateur event held in January, February and March.

  3. Step 3

Visit the Aldershot horse show. This a charity event held on the May bank holiday weekend. Entrance is free for the event, but car parking is £10.

  4. Step 4

Take horse riding lessons. When there is not an event, Tweseldown racecourse offers a days training for all levels and ages. The school is open all year. Phone 01252 850 628 to book.

  5. Step 5

Plan your trip to Tweseldown. The racecourse is located in Aldershot, South Hampshire and relatively easy to get to by car, though it is best to map out your route before you set off. There is a train station in Aldershot and from there you can catch a bus straight to Tweseldown.
