Instructions

    • 1

Mix into the sausage any extra ingredients that you prefer, such as chopped onions, garlic, cheese, chives. Set aside in the refrigerator.

    • 2

In large mixing bowl, combine biscuit mix, milk and butter. Mix thoroughly. Put in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

    • 3

Divide the dough into two equal portions.

    • 4

Roll out one portion of the dough on a floured surface to about 1/8 to 1/6 thickness.

    • 5

Spread half the sausage onto the rolled out biscuit dough.

    • 6

Roll the dough up starting at one long side to the other.

    • 7

Repeat steps 4 to 6 with other half of dough. Wrap both rolls tightly in aluminum foil, and put in freezer until firm but not frozen. This will make the dough easier to cut into the pinwheels.

    • 8

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.

    • 9

Pull out the rolls from the freezer. Slice them from top to bottom in 1/2-inch-thick pieces. Place the pinwheels on a baking sheet.

    • 10

Bake for about 13 to 15 minutes or until the dough is a golden brown and the sausage is cooked through.

  • Sausage pinwheels also make a nice finger food for a dinner party.
