Make Fudge Sauce

This article will teach you how to make a homemade fudge sauce. This was another one of my mothers recipes.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/2 Cup softened butter
  • 2 1/4 Cups of confectioners sugar
  • 2/3 Cups evaporated milk
  • 6 Squares of unsweetened chocolate
  • Double boiler pots
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Mixing spoons
  • Stove heated to a medium-high heat
  1. Step 1

Fill bottom pan with water and let sit on stove top and come to a boil. In the top pan, off to the side for right now, mix 1/2 cup butter and 2 1/4 cup confectioners sugar. Mix well and then add 2/3 cups of evaporated milk and the 6 squares of chocolate.

  2. Step 2

Put the top pan on the stove top, on top of the pan with the water boiling. Stir a little as the chocolate melts then let it cook for about 20-25 minutes (possibly longer if chocolate isn't all the way melted.) You can stir the mixture every 10 minutes or so....but don't over stir it.

  3. Step 3

Remove from heat and with your mixing spoon, beat the mixture well. Store in refrigerator until ready to use. You can drizzle this over ice cream, cakes, cookies, anything you wish!

Tips & Warnings
  • Fudge will harden in the refrigerator, but if you let it sit out room temperature for an hour or so it will be fine to just pour over what ever you will be using it for.
  • Be careful not to get to much water in the bottom of the double boiler, because it will splash out when you put the top pan on it.
