Take Part in Pre-Homecoming Preparations
Step1
Look around the school for posters and flyers asking for help on various committees, such as dance decoration and party planning. Choose one that you think you can get excited about. For instance, if you love to paint, go for the decorating committee.
Step2
Consider joining one of these committees. Homecoming week will be that much more enjoyable for you when you see your own handiwork adorning the event site. If you are unsure whether you'll be welcome at one of these committees, you can use the time-tested technique of bringing food to the meeting (cookies and soda or pretzels and iced tea are always appreciated), which is almost sure to win your welcome.
Step3
Ask a friend to take part in homecoming preparation clubs if you are feeling shy. Your likely to make new friends by joining these activities, but it always helps to have a friend by your side in the beginning.
Step4
Show your commitment to the cause by searching for homecoming ideas online, or by asking your parents and older siblings what their events were like and then bringing these notes to any pre-homecoming meetings. You'll seem like a pro party planner.
Make It a Week to Remember
Step1
Dress up on themed days during homecoming week, like "Rodeo Day" or "Crazy Hat Day."
Step2
Wear school colors as much as possible on and around homecoming.
Step3
Paint your face and even coordinate hair clips to build a school-spirit ensemble. Treat it like a major league sports event, and you'll get more out of it than you put into it.
Step4
Show your school spirit by hosting a pre-homecoming game barbecue, either at your home or in the parking lot of the stadium, if tailgating is allowed.
