Things You'll Need:
- Planning committee
- Decorative items
-
Step 1
Go to a local party supply store and check out all of their accessories, in addition to mums and ribbons. Get a feel for prices and types of mums, as well as any accessory that might be used to decorate a mum. Check to see if they have mums in your school colors.
-
Step 2
Go online to a party supply web site like Mums and Garters and compare their offerings and prices to what you found in your party supply store (see Resources below).
-
Step 3
Check to see if you can get bulk pricing by ordering through online retailers. This may save you a great deal of money if you can take advantage of it. However, some online vendors have extremely high minimum orders for bulk purchases.
-
Step 4
Ask for a sample mum to be sent to you from an online supplier, if you have time. Compare it to what's available at your local party store to see where you'll be getting the best value for your money.
-
Step 1
Ask friends and homecoming committee members what would make their mums special to them. Some may suggest decorating with pins of the school's mascot, while others may like the idea of putting initials on their mums to personalize them.
-
Step 2
Select a wide range of decorative charms and accessories to personalize the mums. When supplying for the whole school, you don't need to put each mum together yourself, but have the charms and letters readily available to students so they can customize their own mums.
-
Step 3
Know that some homecoming mums weigh up to ten pounds! This means you don't have to hold back when choosing or decorating homecoming mums. After all, these are the four years that you will remember all of your life, and it's a great opportunity to indulge your creative spirit.
