Magnetic dress up dolls are today's answer to the paper dolls of generations past. These ingenious two dimensional dolls look and act just like traditional paper dolls. Like paper dolls, they are meant to be dressed up in a variety of outfits. However, instead of shaky and unstable paper tabs to hold the outfits on the doll (and we all know how often those tabs didn't work!), the outfits are held on magnetically. If you have a young child who loves paper dolls, surprise her by learning to select magnetic dress up dolls.

Select Magnetic Dress Up Dolls

Step1
Select dolls that are age appropriate. For example, very young children may love magnetic dress up dolls that depict children close to their age, are vividly colored and have simple, fun outfits. Older children would be more likely to enjoy dolls in the pre-teen age range and with more sophisticated outfits. Older children will also be more likely to appreciate international dolls.
Step2
Choose magnetic dress up doll packs that contain more than one doll. Children will appreciate this because having dolls to interact with other dolls allows them to create more in-depth pretend scenarios.
Step3
Find a variety of outfits for the dolls. Since the main part of the fun of magnetic dress up dolls lies in actually dressing them up, it is beneficial to have lots of clothing choices. Look for doll packs with many outfits as well as packs of supplemental outfits for the dolls.
Step4
Pick out themed dolls to add to a collection. Once your child already has several general magnetic dress up dolls, adding a special doll, such as a ballerina or a princess doll, can add an exciting new element to your child's play time.
Step5
Shop for magnetic dress up dolls in toy stores or online. You can find a wide variety of magnetic dress up dolls at Surprise.com or on eBay.

Tips & Warnings

  • Magnetic dress up dolls are meant for young children. Sticking magnetic clothing to flat dolls is ideally suited to small hands. Younger children also appreciate the simplicity of these dolls. Children over the age of about 12 will probably not be as enthusiastic about magnetic dress up dolls as their younger sisters.
