American Girl Dolls are made for every type of girl. They come with a wide variety of accessories to make them even more unique. The dolls and accessories are age appropriate per individual item for children 3 years old and up, and 8 years old and older.

Research American Girls Dolls and Accessories

1. Read toy reviews and compare prices for American Girl dolls at a site like Epinions.
2. Review the American Girls Web site for additional information and stories. This will help you learn more about the background of each doll (her history, life and personality) so you will have the opportunity to be more creative when choosing new accessories.

3. Visit the American Girl Web site. Click on "Accessories" tab in the top tool bar.
4. Choose a doll from the list of historical dolls on the left side of the screen (Addy, Felicity and Elizabeth, Josefina, Kaya, Kirsten, Kit, Molly and Emily, Samantha and Nellie). This allows you to pick accessories specifically designed for these dolls respectively.
5. Choose accessories for other doll lines (Girl of the Year: Nicki, Just Like You, Bitty Baby, Bitty Twins, and Coconut and Licorice). These accessories are unique to these individual lines. You can choose from a wide variety available such as clothing, beauty items, hats and pets, as well as complete kits for baking, shopping, playing music, dress up and more.

6. Select from the accessory list an option under the "For Dolls" category. You can see what's newly available, pets, housewares, cookware, school items, luggage, nursery items, clothing and shoes, swimwear, outfit extras, grooming and beauty items and various miscellaneous accessories.
7. Choose a doll for your doll. There are mini versions of the historical dolls available. You can choose to match them to their larger counterparts or swap styles. Each mini doll comes with a mini book that tells her story.

8. Select one of three choices underneath the "For Girls" category in the lefthand list.
9. Find accessories for your real life little girls. Choose shoes, hats, swimwear, hair accessories, bags, dresses, beach towels, luggage, backpacks and storage cases.

• You may also want to register with the "Gift Guide" and "Wish List" on the American Girls website to help while you select the dolls and their accessories.
• Be aware that not all items are age appropriate for the same ages. Certain items are only appropriate for older children, while others are suitable for younger children as well.
