How to Get Healthy Nails
You could have on the cutest outfit and your hair perfectly coiffed, but if your nails are messed up, it could take away from the whole look, not to mention it could be hazardous to your health. Nails are often overlooked in terms of care, but if you don't take care of them, bacteria can get into the nail bed and cause a fungal infection. The area around the nail also needs to be kept healthy as well, as it can as it can also affect the nail bed, if not properly cared for.

1
Moisturize your nails constantly. Rub petroleum jelly or Castor oil on your nail and the skin around it daily.
-
2
Be gentle when pushing back your cuticles. Push them back with a cuticle pusher only at a 45-degree angle, very gently. Being rough with your cuticles will cause the nail to become damaged.
-
3
Always dry your hands and nails thoroughly after washing. This prevents bacteria from growing from moisture stuck underneath the nail. Regularly clean underneath your nails as well.
-
4
Don't pick at the cuticle skin around your nails. Not only will this leave your nail area looking haggard, but you also risk bacteria entering the nail bed, if you cut through the skin.
-
5
Wear cotton socks and comfortable shoes. 100 percent cotton socks will absorb sweat, keeping your feet dry and less prone to a fungal nail infection in your toes. Wearing shoes that are too tight may pinch your toes and cause the nails to grow incorrectly.
-
6
Trim and file your nails regularly, trimming straight across with nail clippers and filing down any thick areas for clean, healthy look.
