Step1
Recognize that a treadmill affords you the opportunity to get an aerobic workout without necessitating that you be moving all over the room. A treadmill is stationary and fairly compact in terms of the space it takes up in a room of your home.
Step2
Consider joining a gym or health club if owning your own treadmill isn't an option or in your best interests. Besides, the treadmills at these facilities usually come with all the bells and whistles that would cost you a small fortune to buy for yourself.
Step3
Experiment with the speed feature on your treadmill while you exercise. You can adjust the speed up or down to suit you. For that matter, you can often select a specific course which includes hilly terrain or downhill paths.
Step4
Learn something new while you work off the baby weight. On a treadmill, you can prop up a book and read while walking so you can catch up on the latest news or study for your certification or degree.
Step5
Tune out while you tone up. Just plug in some ear phones into your portable music player and rock on while you work out. For that matter, you could even learn a new language on audio cassette while exercising.
Step6
Enjoy a movie or your re-runs of classic television sitcoms while on the treadmill. Most modern treadmills are equipped with television screens with cable being provided (again, bring your own headphones). It makes the time go faster. If you time it right, you can catch your favorite television show and finally get through it undisturbed.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't overdo it. If you're not an experienced runner or used to aerobic conditioning, then start out slow and increase the intensity of your treadmill workout gradually.
