Sometimes, bringing a bundle of joy into the world can add padding your waistline as well. While your body may have changed, you can count on the fact that your life has, too. Fortunately, the extra weight collected after having a baby isn't as long-term as braces and college tuition, or as challenging. In fact, with a little determination, you can easily learn how to work off the baby weight at home. Follow these steps to find out how.

Discover Ways to Work Off Baby Weight at Home

Step1
Count the calories burned off as you go about your daily domestic chores. For instance, an hour of vacuuming burns about 175 calories. In fact, make grocery shopping and putting the foodstuff away when you get home part of your exercise routine. An hour of each activity burns off about 395 calories.
Step2
See the potential gym-like possibilities your home can offer. Other than the typical domestic drudgery, the very structure of your home can provide a myriad of ways in which to work off that baby weight. And as a added bonus, it's free.
Step3
Take the stairway to do sit ups. Just push off on the stair that comfortably meets your height requirements, while keeping your feet planted firmly at the bottom. The incline of the stairs makes it a bit easier to push off from and you don't have to get down on the floor.
Step4
Build up your calf muscles by using the stairs too. Simply stand on the bottom stair so that your heels hang over the edge a bit and you can push off with your toes. This motion will stretch and quickly strengthen calf muscles if performed several times a day.
Step5
Use a kitchen chair to raise your rear end. Stand in front of the chair and step up on it with one foot while keeping the other on the floor. Do a few steps up and down, then switch legs and repeat. Do this activity every day several times and you will feel the 'burn' almost immediately.
Step6
Develop your deltoids in a doorway. The deltoids are those muscles at the upper arm where it meets the shoulder. To strengthen these muscles, stand in a doorway with your arms down at your sides but with your palms bracing either side of the doorway frame. Then, push up and out with your hands and hold for 5 seconds. Release and repeat 8 times.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't go overboard when thinking of creative ways to burn off baby weight at home. For instance, using a short stool for doing stepping exercises is a great idea. Using a ladder, isn't.
