Learn How to Use Walking to Work off Baby Weight

Step1
Get into a daily habit of walking around the block a few times after breakfast. This routine will give you an excuse to leave the breakfast dishes long enough to (hopefully) find that someone else has cleared them before your return. A morning walk will also help kick-start your metabolism into gear and give you energy to get through your day.
Step2
Get the whole family into the act by getting everyone out walking, perhaps after the dinner meal. Walking in the evening this way will let you use the time to catch up with family business as well as improve your digestion.
Step3
Organize a time to stroll through the park with other moms in your neighborhood. No one ever said that walking to lose baby weight had to be a lonely activity.
Step4
Work off the baby weight by walking to work. If you work outside the home and live within walking distance, trade in your car keys and high heels for a pair of socks and sneakers and hike to the office instead.
Step5
Consider obtaining a membership at a local health club or gym to do your walking routine on a treadmill. Just 30 minutes a day, a few times a week, will have you saying "bye-bye" to baby weight in no time.
Step6
Don't forget to count steps as you go about your busy day. All those trips to the basement to do laundry, shop for groceries, or even mall walking add up. You might even want to invest in a walking distance calculator to wear on your wrist so you'll know exactly how much mileage you're getting.

Tips & Warnings

  • Your baby probably enjoys getting out for fresh air too. Bundle her up according to the weather and bring her along in the stroller when you go out walking.
  • Always wear properly-fitted footwear that is designed for extensive walking to avoid stress fractures in your feet and even injury to your knee joints.
