Discover How to Use A Trampoline For Exercise

Step1
Practice bouncing on your trampoline before you use it for exercise. How long you will need to practice will depend on your agility and balance. However, don't start any exercise routines until you're comfortable being on the trampoline.
Step2
Stand in the center of the trampoline with your arms out at your sides a bit and your feet slightly apart. This position will help you to maintain your balance. To get the bouncing motion going, spring slightly from your knees without lifting your feet from the trampoline.
Step3
Walk in place for some variation. Slowly lift your heels while keeping your toes on the trampoline. To keep your momentum (and balance), gently swing your arms at your sides.
Step4
Bring on the cardio workout by jogging on the trampoline. Lift your feet 1 to 2 inches off the trampoline and alternate swinging your arms as though you were jogging down the street.
Step5
Move on to an advanced trampoline workout with the jumping jack exercise. Spread your feet apart as you bounce up and clap your hands over your head, just as you would a regular jumping jack on the floor.

Tips & Warnings

  • To stop yourself on the trampoline, simply stand still for a few moments and wait for the motion to stop.
  • Avoid using the trampoline while barefoot, no matter how tempting it may be. Doing so could result in a foot injury or a fall from the trampoline.
  • While you want your exercise attire to be comfortable, don't wear anything too loose. You could get your foot caught in long pants, for example, and bounce from the trampoline onto the floor.
